Art – Chewing Gum Artist – Ben Wilson – London

Ben Wilson made his name by applying artistic designs to that most unlikely of canvases, squashed pavement gum. An exhibition and trail of his work opens at Trinity Buoy Wharf on 2 February. The masticatory maestro is the first visiting artist in a new arts programme funded by Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust. Each artist will leave a permanent work of art at the site, which is famous for its lighthouse and container city, and as home of the Longplayer 1000-year piece of music. As part of the show, Wilson has created a trail of illustrated chewing gum from East India DLR down to the Wharf, where you’ll find a photographic exhibition of his previous work. Ben Wilson’s exhibition is at The Boiler House, Trinity Buoy Wharf, E14 0JW on 3-5 February 2012, 12-5pm, with an opening night on 2 February (5-9pm). Entrance is free. The gum trail is visible at any time.

Design – First Ever Time Out Issue

Vintage is cool. Vintage clothes, fairs, homewares. You name it, old stuff is hot and we want a piece of the action. What about a vintage version of your favorite London magazine? Yes, that is right. Time Out’s first ever issue was just a double sided A2 sheet folded into A5 when it hit the streets in the summer of 1968 and it has never looked back, until now. Download it to see what was hot in the late 60s….http://www.timeout.com/media/Time_Out_first_issue.pdf

Exposed conduits and exterior light fixtures (used in the interior) are used to create a visually interesting ceiling. Timber floors and wallpanels create warmth in the light and airy space. Event – Amnesty Shop Launch at Boxpark

Last Thursday evening,  Shoreditch played host to the launch of the first ever Amnesty International shopping emporium at the Boxpark shipping-container-department-store on Bethnal Green Road – located next to Shoreditch High Street station. Amnesty’s new concept story stock’s ethically sourced gifts, clothing and designer homewares. All profits from the store will go directly to Amnesty Internationals Human Rights work, and best of all the shop is full of fantastic looking selection of unqiue products and the store was designed by us… as you may already know. See blog posts below for more info on the shop build.
The Amnesty Boxpark shop will be working in collaboration with local designers, artists and London College of Fashion who will be providing limited edition ranges – It’s great to see organisations getting involved with local talent, that is the future! The store will also be hosting a range of events and workshops which you can keep up to date with at  Amnesty Boxpark | Facebook
During the launch evening the talented British contemporary painter Stuart Semple was hosting a live-letter-art writing event in aid of the Amnesty ‘Write for Rights’ campaign. This campaign will have thousands of people all over Britain writing hand written letters on behalf of 10 Amnesty cases. One such case is for Woman’s Rights in Zimbabwe which you can find out more about at Women of Zimbabwe Arise – Zimbabwe.
The Boxpark Amnesty International shop can be found on the upper level and is worth checking out and remember not only do they stock a unique range of products, but the profits raised goes towards helping a lot of worthy causes. We are very proud to be a part of this store.

Pop Up Shop – London – Ebay

Location: Dean Street, Soho, London UK Dates: 1st December 2011 – 5th December 2011 Ebay’s Christmas boutique will be open for just five days and will close on Monday the 5th of December. The first week in December has traditionally been the busiest shopping week in the lead up to Christmas and the opening is designed to coincide with this. The store has the website’s top 200 items available in the shop. Customers can use the Ebay App on their mobile phones to scan a barcode on an item’s price tag and have them delivered to their homes within three days. Staff in the store said that this way of shopping ‘no queues, no bags, no stress’. We thought this was a rather cleaver concept. Take a look at this video to see behind the scenes how this store concept works… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxMIzarriCs&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fthenextweb.com%2Fuk%2F2011%2F12%2F14%2Fbehind-the-scenes-at-ebay-uks-first-pop-up-shop%2F&feature=player_embedded]
